NFC (Near Field Communication)
A short-range wireless standard (up to ~4 cm) that lets two devices swap data instantly - no pairing, no app, no friction.
NFC (Near Field Communication) is a family of wireless standards operating at 13.56 MHz. Bring a phone within a few centimetres of a tag or another device and they exchange data instantly - no setup, no password, no Bluetooth pairing.
In the physical world NFC reads NFC tags that hold a web address, handles contactless payment, and shares contact details. Most smartphones made in the last few years read NFC tags natively - no dedicated app needed.
